Gravlax, Cream Cheese and Chives Toasted Bagel

Gravlax on a bagel hot sandwich

For those who are unaware, Gravlax is a Scandinavian make of dry-cured salmon that is marinated in herbs. Here are a simple gravlax recipe and a how-to from Recipetineats.

The Techs

  • Serves: 2
  • Preps in 4 minutes
  • Cooks in 6 minutes

The Ingredients

Two poppy & sesame seed bagels, cut in half
Four ounces of cream cheese
6 oz gravlax, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons snipped chives
freshly ground black pepper, plus extra to serve
warmed hollandaise sauce, to serve

The Directions

1. Place the bagels on a sandwich grill, cut side down. Leave them toast 2–3 minutes until golden without closing the lid. Remove from the barbecue. Spread cream cheese on the bases and gravlax on top. Scatter the bagel and season the snipped chives with black pepper.

2. Top the lids and go back to the sandwich grill. Reduce the top plate and toast for about 2–3 minutes or, as directed by the manufacturer, until golden and crispy. Serve immediately with warmed hollandaise sauce and more black pepper.
